The technique for photographing Christmas trees and decorations are the same for film and digital cameras. Use a fast film or ISO setting. Twilight, shortly after the sun has set, is the best time to photograph. You will still have some color in the sky that will set off the lights on the tree. Use a slower shutter speed and a tripod to capture the scene.
